Away match at Kingswood Tennis Club – a dominant 4-0 win

33°C heats did not hinder WGTC Men’s 1s performance amongst the leafy mansions of the private Surrey roads housing Kingswood tennis club.

With the match starting at midday there was no hiding from the sun. WGTC arrived early and warmed up on the artifical clay before being switched to artifical grass by the opponents. A crucial error. Positive ball striking from Tom Atwood ensured he and Aiden Doyle came through their first rubber handily 6-1, 6-4. On the adjacent court a new pairing of Axel Heitmuller and Niraj Mavani got swiftly to work securing a 6-4, 6-2 win. The surface was perfect for Axel to put in some intimidating serves which were picked off by the clever positioning and soft hands of debutant Niraj.

The 2nd half was almost a fait accompli with Kingswood wilting in the heat and WGTC staying cool. Axel and Niraj took a solid 6-2, 6-2 win. Next door Aiden and Tom started strongly winning 6-1 and losing their way a little before rallying to a 7-5 win.
