WGTC Mens 1’s secured a 2nd win in their 2nd match of the Surrey league season. Now sitting 2nd in the table having played a match less than the league leaders there is all to play for in the league.

Freddie and Ricardo served up some beautiful attacking tennis against Cheam. Daring and competent net play gave them a significant advantage against their opponents winning 6-3, 7-6 in the first. It was difficult for the players on the other court to pay attention to their own match but Ajay and Aiden managed to produce some swashbuckling “old-man tennis” when needed, racing back from a set down to win 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (10-5).

Come the 2nd rubber Freddie and Ricardo were in control from the off, winning 6-3, 6-2. Next door, after a competitive first set, Aiden and Ajay took their foot off the gas and let the opposition take the rubber 7-5, 6-1.

We would like to thank Cheam for their pleasant opposition and the high standard of tennis throughout.
